Jackpot, Nevada

Monday,August 2,2010
Left Ely at 8:00am for Jackpot,Nevada. It's a 4 hour drive but with all the constructions going on it took us almost 5 hours to get to our destination. Stopped in the town of Wells and had lunch at a restaurant. Had some mashed potatoes and gravy,chicken,salad and soup. Earl also had some sauerkraut. He love sauerkraut. Had some vanilla and chocolate pudding for dessert.
As we were leaving Earl has to stop he wasn't feeling good. I think the sauerkraut did him. He went back to relieve himself. We waited for a while until he felt better. I gave him immodium and that cured it.
Our cat Alisto was just enjoying the ride and he gets restless when it's hot. Turn the AC and he'll be happy.
Arrived in Jackpot at 1:30pm. Earl hooked up the RV. Relaxed and nap a little bit. After our nap we went to the casino and played slots again. Loser again. I'm not telling how much I lost. Our vacation is just starting.Want to enjoy the rest of it. Left the casino and stopped by a grocery store and bought a block of ice for our cooler. Back to the RV and started cooking our dinner. Soup sounds good. Opened a can of Chicken soup for Earl and mushroom soup for me. Thanks to microwave we had our instant soup dinner. After dinner took shower and watch TV(The Bachelorette Finale) While watching TV I was updating my blog.
It's almost bedtime for Earl. Connie still facebooking and blogging. Bedtime is 11:30 for Connie.

Ely, Nevada

Left Vegas at 6:45 am for Ely, Nevada our next stopover. Arrived in Ely at 1:00pm. Fueled the rig and checked in at KOA. Filled up our propane, it was completely empty. I guessed we used our heater a lot last year when we were stranded in the snow storm in Jackpot, Nevada.
The town of Ely is so serene. We love to stay here everytime we travel to Idaho. You can really relax and if you want to go to the casino and eat you can call for a limousine and they'll come and pick you up and take you back for free. If you like buffalo jerky they have it here. I haven't tasted one yet. Had our lunch,another sandwich. This time it's salami,bologna and cheese sandwich with mayonaise and mustard and sweet pepper on the side plus Perrier for a drink. Better than subway sandwich. After lunch took a nap another long nap then we went for our walk. We met an older lady traveling by herself, we were admiring her Roadtracker mini motorhome and her smart car that she was towing. We think she's a lot older than us but boy is she perky. After our walk it's time for dinner. Can't think of what to prepare. Hot dog sounds good to me. Yes hot dog for dinner. Just microwave it and after 1 minute dinner is ready. At 8pm they're showing a movie at the park. We haven't decided if we are going or not. I guess we're not. It's almost Earl's bed time. Tomorow we are on our way to Jackpot, Nevada our next stop.
At 9pm Earl is in bed. Connie started reading her e-mails,facebook then started blogging.
Connie doesn't go to bed till 11:30. So what I do is read a book for a little while and then play solitaire on the computer.

Las Vegas

Left Chino Hills at 7:00 am and arrived at our 1st destination Las Vegas at 12 noon. It was so hot and didn't feel like doing anything. Earl hooked up the RV utilities. Turned the AC on and Connie fell asleep. Connie slept till 4pm. Had leftover pizza for late lunch. Earl had pastrami sandwich for lunch while I was asleep. After my late lunch we got ready for church. We went to the 5:30 pm mass at The Guardian Angel Catholic Church. It was a walking distance from the RV park. After church we had some slurpees, just right for the hot weather. I had pina colada while Earl had a no sugar crystal light slurpee. Stopped by Circus-Circus Casino and played at penny machine. As usual no luck. After losing $20 in 20 minutes Earl and I decided to quit. We had fun for 20 minutes. I really don't call that fun if you lose $20 in 20 minutes time. I'll try my luck again next time.Back to the RV. Took showers and ate our dinner. Another pastrami.
Our cat Alisto is so docile. Doesn't like the hot weather either. Just like to sleep. Will just get up when hungry or use the litter box when nature calls. Earl went to bed at 9:30 while I checked my e-mails,facebook and started my blog. Went to bed at 11:30pm.

Summer 2010-Venice,Hollywood,LA

Tuesday-July 20,2010
Left for LA at 11:00 am with the German exchange students. Joined the group to have fun and at the same time connect with Sandra Hertrampt their German coordinator.We became friends since she started working with IST 3 years ago.We 1st went to Venice and strolled around. You sure see all sorts of people here. It's been so long since I was here. From Venice we headed to Rodeo Drive. It scares me to go to their stores so I didn't go inside at all. If I go inside I sure would like to buy stuff but looking at the prices forget it.
From there we went to Hollywood.Went inside the Kodak theatre and look around. Sandra bought a purse,shorts for herself and her boyfriend,T-shirts. Had some ice cream while waiting for time.
After Hollywood we headed to Farmer's Market. Had dinner at Chipotle and had a large Chicken Burrito. After our dinner we walked about and watched the students spend their money. They love to go to Acrombie and Fitch store. We rode the Trolley on the way to our bus.
Left Farmer's Market at 8:00pm and arrived in Chino Hills at 9:00pm

Hot and Humid Saturday=July 17,2010

Saturday,July 17,20104:00pm Got ready for our friend Victor's Retirement Party at his home in Chino Hills. By the time we got to his place it was almost 5:30pm. A lot of food
and a lot of people. Stayed there for an hour and a half.



After this party we were on our way to Dr.Eke's place in Riverside for his son's birhday and also found out it was his birthday too.



Dr.Eke had a lot of Nigerian food,music and dances. There was "pinata" for kids and all kinds of stuffs. I'd seen all kinds of fancy Nigerian clothes worn by some of his guests. I wished I took some pictures. Dr.Ahn and his wife Linda were there. Pat Sloman and some of his clinic staffs were there. It was so nice to see Dr. Ahn and he sure looked better than when he was still working. See, what retirement does to you? It makes you look and feel young. C'mon people retire and join the retiree club.
We stayed at Dr. Eke's place till 9:30pm.
That's how Earl and I spent this hot and humid Saturday. It was a full Saturday.
Got home around 10:15pm.

Woke up at 6:00 am and got ready to go to "The Shoppes" in Chino Hills to participate in "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer".It was an easy 2 mile walk and it was a good turnout.Dr. Eke who is one of the Board of Directors of American Cancer Society was one of the attendees. Earl,myself,Pat Sloman and some of the Kaiser Clinic employees were there too,Survivors and supporters from all over the Inland Empire were well represented.
It was a very humid and hot day and I brought an umbrella for me to help beat the heat. A lot of young volunteers cheered and offered water as we walked our route.
There was a little entertainment and the event lasted till 10:00am.After the event Earl went home to work on his sprinkle projects while I stayed at Barnes and Noble to cool off and read some magazines and refreshed myself with a Venti Starbuch Frapuccino.I stayed there till 1:30pm. And from there I stopped by In N' Out for 3 double double Burgers and French Fries. That was our lunch.

Idaho Sept.24-Oct.4 2009

Since there wasn't internet in our resort I have to do our 2 week stay in Idaho in 1 blog.
Arrived at Snake River Resort in Homedale, Idaho around 12:30 pm. Set up the coach and relaxed. Clara and Myron came and visited with us until evening. After they left we went to see Earl's mom who only lives 10 minutes away from our campsite. It was nice to see her. She looks good and still perky.
We went to visit Earl's mom daily while we were there.
On Saturday, Sept.26 Clara and Myron had barbecue in their place and we were invited.We went to pick up Earl's mom and went to Clara's place. Kelli and Stacy and the kids arrived from Bruneau. Earl's nephew Roy arrived with his son and daughter and Earl's brother Kenneth arrived from Oregon. It was a family reunion. A lot of food and a lot of beer drinking. Earl is allergic to alcohol so he didn't have any drink at all.Sad..It was late when we got back to our campsite.
Sunday, Sept.27. Earl and I went to 9:30 mass in Caldwell. After church we went to Earl's mom place and visited with her and Kenneth.
Earl and Kenneth bought a 4 day fishing licence and went fishing at the snake river.
They caught some bass. Kenneth did the cleaning of the fish and Connie got to eat the fish.
Monday,Sept.28 we went to Bruneau at Stacy and Kelli's place. They took the boat out to Strike Dam for some fishing. It was very windy but warm and beautiful day. The fishing wasn't good. They only caught 2 fishes. Of course they spend more time drinking beer than concentrating on fishing.
After fishing we went back to Stacy and Kelli's place for dinner. Kelli fixed a very good homemade stew and fresh baked bread.
We left at 7:00pm and arrived at our campsite around 9:00pm.
Tuesday, Sept.29 Just stayed at the resort. Earl and Kenneth went fishing but the weather wasn't cooperating. It was cold and windy. Not fun at all.
Connie just stayed inside the coach with Alisto and relaxed. No TV, no internet. I can't believed that I survived without all these.
Wednesday, Sept.30. Went to Clara's place and spend all day with them. Went to farmers market and bought all kinds of fresh fruits. Very inexpensive.
We played Wii against the kids. Heven't played Wii before and it was fun. I'm tempted to buy one.
It was late when we went back to our rig.
Thursday, Oct.1. We went to visit Gary and Joanne in Nampa. Had a good visit and reminisced the past. Jennifer came with her 2 daughters. Both cute girls.
Gary barbecued steaks Costco size( hard to finish). It was a very good dinner. We even had doggy bag to take home. Gary gave us some of their organic
produce ie:apples,garlic,eggplants and different color peppers. Thanks gary and Joanne.
Joanne showed us their photos taken when she and her sister went to Italy. Beautiful photos.
Friday, Oct. 2
Spent time with Earl's mom. Earl and Kenneth did some fixing and cleaning of their moms house getting ready for winter.
Saturday, Oct.3. Kenneth left for Oregon. Clara and Myron left for North Dakota.
It was kind a lonesome when they left. Stayed with Earls mom and gave her company.
Went shopping in the afternoon and at 5:00pm Earl and I went to church.
After church we went back to moms place had dinner. Stayed a little longer since we are leaving early in the morning for California.
Sunday,Oct.4.Left at 7:00am and headed for Jackpot, Nevada. The weather was cloudy and looked like rain.It was raining by the time we got to Boise and it was snowing hard when we got to Twin Falls, Idaho.
By the time we got to Jackpot the snow was over a foot. Earl had to plow the snow at our campsite.We stayed overnight at Cactus Pete's RV Resort.
It snowed all night and they closed the road to Ely where we're supposed to stay the next day.
Monday Oct.5. It had cleared up. We left as soon as we got up. The weather report says another storm is on the way.
Instead of staying in Ely for 1 day we decided to go all the way to Las Vegas. Earl drove 500 miles which he never does on the motorhome. We didn't want to be stranded since we were leaving for Europe the Friday of that week.
We arrived in Las Vegas at 6:30pm. We stayed at Circus-Circus(KOA) RV park. As soon as we settled down we went to the casino for dinner. We didn't feel like eating that big a meal so we end up having subway sandwich. After dinner we refreshed ourselves and went to Casino for a little gambling. Lost of course what's new.
Tuesday, Oct.6. Left the RV Resort for home at 6:30. Stopped to gas the rig and way we went.
Arrived in Chino Hills around 1:00pm. Parked the rig in our driveway.
Wednesday,Oct.7. Earl washed the motorhome and the Suzuki car. Spent almost all day washing and cleaning both vehicles. I did our laundry and cleaned the house.
Thursday,Oct.8. Packed our suitcases for our European trip.Called Matthew and told him what to do for Alisto,our cat.
