Idaho Sept.24-Oct.4 2009

9-24-2009/10-4-2009
Since there wasn't internet in our resort I have to do our 2 week stay in Idaho in 1 blog.
Arrived at Snake River Resort in Homedale, Idaho around 12:30 pm. Set up the coach and relaxed. Clara and Myron came and visited with us until evening. After they left we went to see Earl's mom who only lives 10 minutes away from our campsite. It was nice to see her. She looks good and still perky.
We went to visit Earl's mom daily while we were there.
On Saturday, Sept.26 Clara and Myron had barbecue in their place and we were invited. We went to pick up Earl's mom and went to Clara's place. Kelli and Stacy and the kids arrived from Bruneau. Earl's nephew Roy arrived with his son and daughter and Earl's brother Kenneth arrived from Oregon. It was a family reunion. A lot of food and a lot of beer drinking. Earl is allergic to alcohol so he didn't have any drink at all.Sad..It was late when we got back to our campsite.
Sunday, Sept.27. Earl and I went to 9:30 mass in Caldwell. After church we went to Earl's mom place and visited with her and Kenneth.
Earl and Kenneth bought a 4 day fishing licence and went fishing at the snake river.
They caught some bass. Kenneth did the cleaning of the fish and Connie got to eat the fish.
Monday,Sept.28 we went to Bruneau at Stacy and Kelli's place. They took the boat out to Strike Dam for some fishing. It was very windy but warm and beautiful day. The fishing wasn't good. They only caught 2 fishes. Of course they spend more time drinking beer than concentrating on fishing.
After fishing we went back to Stacy and Kelli's place for dinner. Kelli fixed a very good homemade stew and fresh baked bread.
We left at 7:00pm and arrived at our campsite around 9:00pm.
Tuesday, Sept.29 Just stayed at the resort. Earl and Kenneth went fishing but the weather wasn't cooperating. It was cold and windy. Not fun at all.
Connie just stayed inside the coach with Alisto and relaxed. No TV, no internet. I can't believed that I survived without all these.
Wednesday, Sept.30. Went to Clara's place and spend all day with them. Went to farmers market and bought all kinds of fresh fruits. Very inexpensive.
We played Wii against the kids. Heven't played Wii before and it was fun. I'm tempted to buy one.
It was late when we went back to our rig.
Thursday, Oct.1. We went to visit Gary and Joanne in Nampa. Had a good visit and reminisced the past. Jennifer came with her 2 daughters. Both cute girls.
Gary barbecued steaks Costco size( hard to finish). It was a very good dinner. We even had doggy bag to take home. Gary gave us some of their organic
produce ie:apples, garlic, eggplants and different color peppers. Thanks gary and Joanne.
Joanne showed us their photos taken when she and her sister went to Italy. Beautiful photos.
Friday, Oct. 2
Spent time with Earl's mom. Earl and Kenneth did some fixing and cleaning of their moms house getting ready for winter.
Saturday, Oct.3. Kenneth left for Oregon. Clara and Myron left for North Dakota.
It was kind a lonesome when they left. Stayed with Earls mom and gave her company.
Went shopping in the afternoon and at 5:00pm Earl and I went to church.
After church we went back to moms place had dinner. Stayed a little longer since we are leaving early in the morning for California.
Sunday,Oct.4.Left at 7:00am and headed for Jackpot, Nevada. The weather was cloudy and looked like rain.It was raining by the time we got to Boise and it was snowing hard when we got to Twin Falls, Idaho.
By the time we got to Jackpot the snow was over a foot. Earl had to plow the snow at our campsite. We stayed overnight at Cactus Pete's RV Resort.
It snowed all night and they closed the road to Ely where we're supposed to stay the next day.
Monday Oct.5. It had cleared up. We left as soon as we got up. The weather report says another storm is on the way.
Instead of staying in Ely for 1 day we decided to go all the way to Las Vegas. Earl drove 500 miles which he never does on the motorhome. We didn't want to be stranded since we were leaving for Europe the Friday of that week.
We arrived in Las Vegas at 6:30pm. We stayed at Circus-Circus(KOA) RV park. As soon as we settled down we went to the casino for dinner. We didn't feel like eating that big a meal so we end up having subway sandwich. After dinner we refreshed ourselves and went to Casino for a little gambling. Lost of course what's new.
Tuesday, Oct.6. Left the RV Resort for home at 6:30. Stopped to gas the rig and way we went.
Arrived in Chino Hills around 1:00pm. Parked the rig in our driveway.
Wednesday,Oct.7. Earl washed the motorhome and the Suzuki car. Spent almost all day washing and cleaning both vehicles. I did our laundry and cleaned the house.
Thursday,Oct.8. Packed our suitcases for our European trip.Called Matthew and told him what to do for Alisto, our cat.

Left at 7:30 for Twin Falls, Idaho. Stopped at one of the rest stop and had our breakfast sandwich. Arrived in Twin Falls at 11:30. Didn't feel like going anywhere. It was hot when we arrived that we have to turn the AC again.
I gave Earl a haircut and did our laundry.
Had chicken bake for dinner.Walked around the area. Nothing exciting to do so just stayed at the park.
The canyon where Evil Knievel tried to jump many years ago is just few miles from where were at.
Our Route 66 sign broke while I was moving my chair forward. Glass all over the place. I end up cleaning the inside of the RV make sure there are'nt any broken glasses all over.

After we settled in we went for a walk and watch the farmer mow hay.

Earl had some chili with sausage and I had some noodles for dinner.

After dinner took shower and started blogging.

No cable at this RV Park so just played game in our computer.

Left the Vegas KOA RV Park at 8:00 headed for Beaver,Utah. Before parking the RV at the KOA park we gassed the RV at Flying J gas station($78)

Parked the RV hooked up the utilities and settled down. The weather is not as hot as Vegas. It's a lot cooler but very windy. Gusty winds at times.

Summer Vacation 2009 Day2

Saturday, 9-19-2009
Still in Vegas. Earl got up at 6:00 and went for his walk. Locked himself out of the RV. Waited for an hour before he started knocking where I was sleeping. Woke up to let him in. Went back to sleep and didn't wake up till 10:00. Earl called his mom and chatted for awhile and he also called the next RV Park where we gonna stay in Utah.
Checked my e-mail and skyped with my niece Betty in France. We skyped for almost 30 minutes. After we skyped with her we went to the fashion show mall at the strip. Had lunch at their food court. Had KFC for lunch. Bought some clothes at Chicos and had light coffee frapuccino at Starbuck. Stayed at the mall till 3:15. From there we went to mass at the Guardian Angel Cathedral Church.
From church we went back to the RV and fixed dinner. Had chicken-spinach sausage and pickled asparagus. After dinner we went to the casino and played slots. I had $8 for gambling money and Earl had a whopping $3 for gambling money. We are really big gamblers. Played the penny slot machine and when it took my $6 I quit the penny machine. I decided to spend the remaining $2 in a nickel machine. It took 3 spins and won 500 nickels. I quit after that. I was $16 ahead when we left. That's all the gambling we did in Vegas. By the way Earl lost his $3.
So happy with my winnings.

Vacation in September/October

Friday, September 18,2009

Got up at 6am.We are planning to leave by 7am but by the time we got the motorhome ready it was 8am when we left. Hooked up our little car and way we went.

Our 1st stop is Las Vegas .We had a reservation at KOA just next to Circus Circus. Arrived at Koa at 2pm. The pull through wasn't long enough so we have to unhook the car from the RV which Earl didn't want to do. It's a hassle.

Still hot in Las Vegas. The heat sure made me so sleepy. Our cat was getting sleepy too. As soon as we setlled in I took a nap and so is our cat and boy by the time I woke up it was 7pm. My night was over it's time to party. We decided to eat out and can't decide where to eat so we end up going to Subway. It's better for us anyway. The buffet dinner was too much for someone who is diabetic. Walked around the casino. Didn't play just walked around and watched people lose their money.

Went back to the rig and relaxed, took a shower, played solitaire in computer and went to bed.

Cloudy morning. Earl got up at 6:00 and called his mother. I got up at 9:00 and cooked breakfast. Had Hawaiian spam and eggs and fried rice. After breakfast we went to the beach for a walk. Beautiful cloudy day but nice. We seldom walk on the beach but guess what we encountered lying there..a dead seal.

After the wonderful walk we headed back to our rig and relaxed. Had peanuts and coke and tea for our snack.

Took a nap in the afternoon and didn't get up till almost 5:00 pm and almost time for our meeting and dinner. I brought green salad for our potluck. After the meeting and potluck dinner we all stayed around the fire and visited.

Route 66 Allegro Campout

Friday 8-21-2009
Our niece Betty left for Bordeaux, France today while we left for Ventura RV Resort for our monthly campout. left at 1100 and arrived at the park around 1:30. It's a nice resort close to the beach. I have to cook an Italian dish for our potluck tonight. Being a Filipino you would think I'll cook something Filipino dish but wrong. That's too much work for me. Italian dish is so easy. Just go to Costco and whalaa a dish is created. Heat and serve.
There were 14 rigs that showed up and so far that's the biggest turnout of our club in 1 campout.
After dinner Earl and I went to the beach. It was a litlle bit cold.

Farewell to IST Students

Saturday 8-8-2009

Angie,Lorena and the rest of the German students are leaving today. Lorena and Angie didn't want to leave. Took them to Jack in the Box but didn't have the appetite to eat at all. They just ordered curly fries and coke. I offered them my stuffed jalopenos and they liked it.

Took them to the church parking lot at 2:45 pm where the bus will pick them all up. Sad moments for everybody.

Farewell to German Students

Friday 8-7-2009

Farewell Party to the IST(German) students. It was an emotional evening for both host parents and students. You don't realize how you get attach to these kids. Their stay has been a wonderful experience for both parties. Earl enjoys taking them anywhere they want. He loves them and caters to them. Both Angie and Lorena enjoyed Earl so much and respected him like their own father. They respected me too eventhough I didn't get to spend a lot of time with them 'coz I'm at work most of the time.

Weekend at Big Bear

Friday July 24, 2009

Left today for Big Bear with Angelika and Sandra from Germany. Angie is our host student and Sandra is the coordinator for the German students. It's their free weekends with the host families. Angie wanted to go to the mountain and so is Sandra.

Angie and Sandra got sick from the winding road so we have to stop and recuperate.

Arrived at the cabin around 5:30 pm. Unload our stuffs and relaxed a little bit. Had hamburger for dinner. Stayed at the patio for a while and visited till bedtime. Enjoyed the stars on a very clear night.

Saturday July 25, 2009

Earl and Sandra woke up early and they went for a walk while Angie and I slept in which I'm good at.(Sleeping in)

Earl was going to fix our breakfast. He was planning to make pancakes, sausage and eggs. When I woke up at 9:00 he was standing in the kitchen and just looking at his pancake mix like as if he was lost. He doesn't have the rest of the ingredients no milk, no sausage, no butter. So we have to go grocery for all these. By the time our breakfast was served it was around 10:30. It's no longer breakfast it's now brunch. But it was good. Thanks to our chef Earl.
After brunch we went for a ride around the lake. Stopped in some areas of the lake but it started to rain so we have to rushed back to the car. Sandra and Angie were amazed with the size of the pine cones.

After the lake tour we went to the village for shopping. Sandra was the only one who bought stuff. She bought this brass bowl from an Indian store that you can use for "Yoga" and it makes this relaxing humming sound with the use of a wooden stick.
Back to the cabin. Sandra and Angie cooked dinner. They prepared a German soup made of potatoes, celery, carrots, bacon, sausage, onions and all kinds of seasonings. It was very good. Earl and I just sat and relaxed.
It was a fantastic German meal.

Relay for Life

Saturday June 27,2009

Earl and I are in the Relay for Life fund raising for American Cancer Society in ChinoHills .Checked in at 8:30 AM and checked out at 10:00PM.

It was held in Chino Hills High School.

It was a very hot and humid dayThank God it was breezy.

A lot of food and drink donations. I didn't walk a lot until the sun had come down. There's quite a few people but not as much as the previous years that we participated on.
Chick-Fil-A provided lunch.
Games were played and some entertainments. DJ with continuous music.
Nice to see all the survivors who attended this fund raising event.

The Fire Dept. provided grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner for everyone who attended the event. Corner Bakery provided sweets.

The Luminaria was emotional. Paper bags with names of survivors and those who passed on were lit along the path where we walked in laps.

After the luminaria Earl and I left. Didn't stay overnight this time.
